26" LCD only works once

My 26" LCD TV only works as a monitor one time and then it messes up. I plug an old monitor into my 8400GS graphics card. I get that working and I plug in my DVI connection for the HDTV. It works, but as soon as I turn the computer off or restart it the TV shows a green screen and i have to plug the old VGA monitor back in. Once I do that and get Windows to come up, I can go back to the DVI connection.

I'm pretty sure I have everything set correctly. I went through the Setup Wizard for my TV with the video card.

Once you shutdown or simply reboot the tv has to go through the detection process all over again. The application is one session only until the next time. If you leave the system running 24/7 undisturbed then you don't have to worry until the next restart usually to apply an update. A dedicated lcd screen with no internal receiver like the new HD lcds coming up with a separate tv tuner box would be a thought.

do you have any suggestions how i can get it to start working after a reboot. i don't want to be lugging an old monitor into my room every time i want to use the computer.

At least you are getting results there. When trying to have a tv with an s-video input detected on the last build I ended up getting nowhere. The newer lcd and flat screen tvs however would be something to consider there especially with the big changes coming in 2209 reuiring HD type television.

The newer monitors are more flexible for this type of application. The cost will scare you at first however with these being the latest out. But some brands are starting to see prices come down with models that have been out for a period of time now.
