2600+ 60c idle!!! please help!

ok iv had my comp for a yr or 2 and im not sure if its always been this hot cos i didnt use it properly till now but nehoo i hav a 2600+ athlon runing at 2.08ghz and its 60 degrees C witch seems awfully hot to me should i get better cooling or just make sure it doesnt go over 85C (the max op temp)

if you are using stock cooling you could look for a better solution, Athlon XPs aren't known for being cool runners

Also, clean the case out with compressed air, especially the cpu fan. I can almost guarantee that will reduce the temp at least 10c.
 
thanx for the sugestions i will probably get a newer fan and hs just wondered if anyone else was having similar problems or weather it was normal

I don't think that these temps are normal. I would certainly have the HSF replaced. You may also tell us what the other temperatures in your case are? What is the room temperature? How many fans have you got in the case...
