ive just bought a 275 to replace my 8800gt. I uninstalled all the drivers that have anything to do with nvidia, restarted the computer, got back into windows and shut it down. I installed the 275 and got to windows no problem, but after installing the drivers and rebooting, my computer works, but its so slow, takes 5 mins just to load up desktop. I then tried a clean copy of windows, but this did not help. What should i do?

That is kinda strange that your PC would suck that much after a GPU upgrade.

Just curious you still @ 3.4ghz? I found when I change hardware I clock back down to 2.4ghz with my Q6600.

Well stupid thought then when you put the old GPU back in does it fix it? You quicker again?

I just fail to see how a GPU could effect boot times so much like that. Only other thought that comes into my mind is to reinstall the drivers.

Disable Vista's Auto Install feature.
Go to Device Manager - Driver Tab (under Properties for the device) "Update Driver" and choose Manual.

This way it wont reinstall default drivers.

Uninstall drivers.

Then use Drive Sweeper in safe-mode to reinstall it.

lol, just did an entire pc restore, which has the 8800gt drivers on it and smartdoctor on my old oc settings and now the card and pc work. This is in desktop tho, dunno wat will happen if i try to play a game.

Before i did a clean install of windows and i double checked the drivers i was downloading and installing.

Yes but the default drivers for Vista suck so it WILL reinstall it once you reboot. This in the past caused issues for me reason I asked. Its not a clean install till you disable the auto-install from Vista.

go into msconfig and make sure it didnt decide to boot with all your services and programs... for some odd ass reason. its happened to me before :/
