What do you think? i dont know when ill be upgrading but what do you think? From benchmarks and reviews the 2900 seems to perform better and they are both at about the same price tag...

As a completely opinion based answer not based on facts, i'd get the 8800gts, maybe even the 320mb version if you aren't playing at crazy resolutions, or the 640mb for a bit more future proofing if the dx10 games will use more memory.

320 I say. The 640 does offer a bit more futureabilty with DX10 but from all Dx9 sources the 640mb fails to give enough of a performance increase to warrant the extra $100 or so dollars.

So you think 8800 all the way? i was just looking at benchmarks and the 2900 was beating it in about everything, but i would kinda like to have the 8800 in case i could go SLI later on. It could be christmas by the time i get around to getting one but who knows..

All the benchies I've seen point to the Latter. Can you post the links?

Edit: nevermind. :o

The Price difference is poo. Why don't you go for a Evga 8800gts, and if your regretting you choice later you can trade it in for somethin more powerful. Or just buy that SLI second.

Scrap a 320. Get either a 640 8800GTS or an 2900XT 512mb.;) or to make up a 640mb GTS cheaper maybe. X2 8600GTS 512mb;)

Performance wise, the 2900XT is much better then the 8800GTS, almost as good as the 8800GTX.

But price wise, the 8800GTS 320MB is a great choice.

I suggest 8800gts 320 mb. And u should purches evga one at some where arround september. So when the new G90 hits the market at november u still can apply for step up.

Yeah i may just get a 8800, but if i do i would like to get the 640mb... however i might not be able to afford it :P so the 320mb is in consideration

I kinda want to stick with nvidia because of my mobo...

I recomend a 640. My Mums friend is a technation. And I brought one of my all time classics TOMB Raider Legend to play in his house on NG. (His card was a 320) And it was so slow. And to play the NG option this is what you need:

Pentium 4 3.00GHz
1GB Ram
a 512mb 3D Accelerated DX9 card 7800/X1800.
