2GB from EBay or 1 GB form ebuyer

Im in a predicament.
My current RAM is quite old so im not if i buy any RAM that they will both run together.
I can get 2 GB ram from ebay for £58 incl postage, but then i run the risk of them not wokring with my mothebroard and therefore having to pay to ship it back and wait etc...
Or i can buy 1gb of ram from ebuyer for around £50, which would probbly not work with my current RAM, but i can get a refund or RMA if it doenst wokr witch is fast and free.

So what do you think i should do. Get the 2GB from ebay, but run the risk of it being DOA or not compatible with motherboard, but then would have 2GB of ram possibly 3.
OR
Get a gb from ebuyer and run the risk of it most likely not work with my other gb of RAM, or have 2gb of RAM

What do you guys think i should do??

EDIT - i just saw that it is suppsoed to be compatible with NForce 4 SLI chipsets which i belive is my chipset.
 
I am leaning towards the ebay. But i am wondering wether to get the 2GB kit or get a 1gb stick for about £30 incl shipping. However i realy want 2GB ram in my system, and id be annoyed if i got the 1 gb stick and it didnt work with my other gb ram.
 
Do you think i should get the 2gb kit or a 1gb stick - the 2gb works out around double the price of 1gb
but if i got the 2gb kit i definatly have 2gb of ram which is what i want, but i could potentially have 3gb which seems unecessary or i would be left with my old RAM as spare.
If i got the 1gb stick i could have 2gb of memory, but i doubt it will wokr with my old ram as its not high density.
What would you do in my position
 
If you buy the one stick, is it hi or low density? if its low, that's good. What kind do you have right now in you computer?
 
besides that, how many slots do you have for ram?
if you can keep the old ram in the pc AND use the 2gb kit then thats even better. even if you don't think you'll need it, having 3gb will show better pc performance then 2gb.
