Is it worth it to put 2 GB of memory into a high end gaming computer?
Actually the bottleneck of modern systems is memory bandwidth not cpu processing capacity.cpu is the most important factor, if you dont have good, its nothing to have 5 gb memory. kay?
Well high end gaming systems arent dedicated to opening Internet ExplorerDo you want to open Internet Explorer in half a second or a third? worth $500?

Windows XP64 can support up to 128GB of storage....now that would give some performance boost. Imagine having your whole hdd in RAM, think of the blazing fast speeds. Ok, stop daydreaming. No, 2GB isn't gonna give you much of a boost.joshj said:There's really no benefits to having more than 1GB (at least not yet). I saw some info on it about a guy who did some testing using 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB. There was no real gain going from 1 to 2GB, in some cases it only worsened.

It really depends on the games yer dealing with and what kinda fancy (software-side) setups you have (i.e., take a game like Baldur's Gate II ... and mount all the CDs on virtual ramdrives .... or try to). More than 1GB does have its uses but not anything really meaningful outside of real workThere's really no benefits to having more than 1GB (at least not yet). Depending on the setup (a) it can run dual channel and (b) it may not be able to run dual channel regardlessNo, I have 2x512 and 1x256 for a total of 1.25GB doesnt make anything run akward, although I cant use dual-channel
