2GB or 1GB?

Alright, I already have a 1GB corsair XMS stick in my computer

Now should I buy another 1GB stick?

Or buy 2GB package and take out the old one.

Im not sure which pair is better, I think the only difference is heatsink and I dont think heatsinks can be better? Oh and I might run all 3 if I can. One of the guys in the reviews said he had to set some of the clocks, does that mean they came OC'ed? (oh and I like the white heatsink ones, plus my mobo was mentioned in the reviews )

I would just get the new 1 GB stick, It will be cheaper and should preform the same. If your worried at all about the heatsink you can buy a seperate one...

Also is your system capable of dual chanell? If so make sure that your getting the exact same model 1GB stick as your first one.

Whats ur PC spec and what do you use it for ?
I would probably Sell the RAM sticks u have at the minute and buy a 2GB dual channel kit.

EDIT: If you motherboard supports dual channel buying a 2gb dual channel kit will prob be best because the timings/latencies will be matched perfectly for maxium performance.

I use this for hardcore gaming! woo. Ive been getting the blue screen while trying to listen to music and playing wow lately, pissing me off. And yes arm pit, my mobo has 4 slots for ram. Oh and would it run faster or slower with the 3GB sticks going even at different speeds and such.

Gaming huh, you defo have a dual channel mobo so i would try selling the RAM you have and buy a 2GB dual channel kit.

Why does he need to sell it? He already has a 1GB stick, so just add another.

I would just add another 1GB RAM stick, just make sure there the same. Add having 3GB will disable dual-channel mode, and that will decrease performance.

All dual-channel kits are just two identical sticks of memory packaged together, you can buy two of the same sticks seperatly and they will work exactly the same way.

just what omega said, dual channel "kits" are just so they can sell you comehting for more, that is exactly the same. There is no need to buy a kit, another stick can just be added with the same specs. I think having 2GB of dual channel would be better then 3GB not dual channel in this case by far...

You mention the bluescreen though....Download a memory tester such as Memtest86 and test your current ram, make sure it has no errors, jsut run it overnight, and if it doesn't pick up anything, then its not the cuase of your current RAM at least.
