I'm wondering, would it be a good diea to get a 2nd 3870? :o

I can get a saphire 3870 512Mb rahter cheap now. (for 2/3 of the normal price) my motherboard does have 2 16x pci-e (2.0 iirc) slots too. and I think my pc should be able to handle the cards (no?)

I'd jsut like some oppinions,. I'm tempted to get it, unless someone can tell me why I shouldn't :) is sapphire a good brand by teh way? never had one of their card,.. and frankly, havnt heard much about it either.

Yeah, sounds great. You can expect a beefy improvement and your PC should have little enough problem keeping up.

Sapphire used to be a great brand iirc, but from what I've been hearing lately they seem to have hit the crapper, hard. Don't quote me. Visiontek is supposed to be a great brand.

so, the Sapphire wouldnt be a good buy then? (its the only one for sale atm. with sale I mean cheaper than normal.)

That's the point, Their customer service and RMA is horrible, if you can believe the multitude of people saying so on the net. They're based in Hong Kong and they contract out their RMA service to whomever.

SO I guess I should've said Sapphire: Good unless your card breaks, Hope you don't get screwed.

Well, in the entherlands the shop where you bought it is your contact point, not the manufacturer himself.. so if it goes fron I should be able to jsut go to the shop. (at least, I hope to) I have had really good xp with this should tough.

I bought RAM there once (because I thought the other ram was bad) turned outthat the motherboard was bad tough. (after 1 week of trying, I was pretty sure of that) I could still return the RAM tough, and got my money back. (decided to buy a new motherboard there tough, along with my q6600 and ddr2 ram.)

Yeah, those arguments wouldn't really matter if the retailer can be used for RMA. I say go for it then. Sapphire don't make bad cards.

I think it would be kind of a waste of money, to be honest. Take that money you would spend on it, and apply it towards something else, be it: A new monitor, a laptop, PDA, cell phone, your RC cars, a nice dress, or whatever.

Unless you are going for multiple displays, then I guess you could justify it. However, running cross-fire or SLI doesn't really increase performance that much and it isn't really noticeable. You are better off just upgrading your video card to the newest generation than running dual of older cards.

I do run 2 monitors:) and yea, on 1 side it could be seen as a waste of money. on the other hand, I could buy the card quite cheap now. (I do run video's on 1 screen and a game on the other regualiry now tough :o )

this card costed me (much) less, together with the one I already had as a 3870-x2 tough. I think I'll be happy with it ^^ (If not I'll return it right away,.. so I better get busy tonight :) )

Dual cards is worth the money, for sure. I sold one of mine to wait and see what the 4870's have to show, if i were you i would wait until then..

But its up to you :P

EDIT: nevermind, you did get it :D

a nice dress

Lol, that's great. :D:rolleyes:

Tlark isn't a fan of SLI/CF. It isn't how it used to be though, adding a second 3870 will add a reliable performance boost, many games at a number of settings and resolutions receive almost 100% return. Hardly a waste of money considered their nominal price.
