2x SLI NVIDIA 670MX 3GB vs NVIDIA 680 4gb

The 280 had more memory, larger memory interface, and more ROP units. Hence it was better at higher resolutions with the eye candy turned up.

Having cards from the same batch would only affect overclocking potential. It would have no impact on SLI performance.

I had a 295, which also stuttered (as I said it was relatively early days for SLI). Stuttering is all but non existent in high end 600 series cards.

I had two voodoo 2's in sli once, sli is very old tech. I had the club3d 1792mb version, which had baiscally no improvement over the 896mb, maybe a frame here or there.

My point is that current drivers are much more mature and for that reason, they perform considerably better.

Higher memory only yields gains at high resolutions. A 680 4GB offers the same performance as a 680 2GB at 1080p. Run the same cards at 1600p and the situation changes.
