hi,

i have recently upgraded from a 478 2.6 800FSB P4 to a 3.0. my CPU temperature has shot up to well into the 40s even though i have used artic silver 5 on it. Do the 3.0 run alot hotter than then 2.6 normally?

and my vcore is 1.2 and my diagnostics program seem to think this is too low, is it? i dont want to over clock the process but i do want it running smoothly

can anyone advise

thanks

here is a screen dump of winbond

if this helps answer my question and ive started noticing that the 5VSB fluctuates a lot and sometimes goes over the limit

any help would be appreciated

thanks

your temps went high to 40 because you have a prescott
your 2.6 northwood is a lot cooler than that
it's an architecture issue
and about the vcore .. yes it's low
you might wanna get it to at least 1.35

im a novioce at OCing and have never really tried it before but wont upping the vcore overclock the cpu or have i got the wrong end of the stick?

Nah, giving the processor a higher voltage just gives the processor a higher voltage. It will only run faster if you tell it to run faster.
