3.3V Threshold Error/BIOS Update

The utility I use to monitor my fans/voltages/temps is AsusProbe. Recently it has been giving me an error saying the 3.3V is out of threshold (I saw it down to 2.688V). I googled the error, and I saw suggestions that other people had, one of which was to update the BIOS. Should I just get the latest BIOS from Asus' website? Is it safe to update a BIOS and if not what problems might arise? Thanks in advance...
 
well sometimes when your motherboard reliezes that the computer is not stable+overheating... it downclocks its overclocked device and perheps the drop of voltage can occur..
and i think all you gatta do is change it back to its normal voltage, and the device to its original place...
you know that to enter the bios, you normally click "delete" right after your computer turns on, right?
i am sure there might be exceptions but, "delete" would work for most motherboards/pc's...

i didn't really answer your question about updating bios, but i am guessing nothing would go wrong by downloading the lastest version,
i would probabily download it... even if there is a problem, just uninstal it or something

The BIOS is not installed on your hard drive, you have to flash your BIOS in order to update it. Generally if something goes wrong with a flash a format will NOT fix the problem. Something that might fix the problem is removing the jumper next to the watch battery, and then remove the battery for about 30-1 minute...then replace them. Hope u learnt somthing Charles and SFG.
 
Asus has a crashfree BIOS so flashing it is reasonably safe. If it fails you put the cd that came with the motherboard in the drive and you can flash the original version back.

The CMOS clear jumper/battery pull wont fix a failed flash, that just restores default settings (like FSB and voltage settings)
