recently picked up an Intel 3.6ghz 560j P4 LGA 775 1m 800 fsb 560 and was curious as to what the "reasonable limit" would be for this processor...ya think i could overclock it to 4ghz?...thanks again...

Seeing as thats only a 10% overclock, I think thats reasonable. But if you paid $350 for that processor like newegg lists it for, I think your crazy. The e6600 is a much better processor for $40 cheaper.

...only paid $60 as the guy didn't know what he had aparently. at any rate, 4.0 is easily achievable?

ok, that wasn't a bad score then. And yea, I don't think 4.0 should be hard at all, just make sure you have the cooling for it.

...thanks for the response. yea, cooling won't be a problem as i have a fan/heatsink combo that is rated over that and is frighteningly about the size of a baseball.....

I think it should be fine. Also, guys it wasn't a Pentium 4 he bought, it's pentium 4, and you can get those at 3.6 ghz stock. You could probably get it to about 4.2-4.3 if you wanted without doing heaps of volt modding.

Oh whoops I thought it said a pentium D :P

Is it P4 or Pentium D??? I think it is a Pentium D 960 3.6Ghz, did they even make a 3.6Ghz Pentium 4? If so, it had better not been a Prescott, you could use the computer and bake a cake at the same time.

Yes it is a pentium 4 it says that in the first post but I misread it and posted the link of a pentium d cause i thought it said pentium d. I looked on newegg and cant find a 3.6 pentium 4 but I thought that they made them.

yer hehe go for it lol, i was going to say $350 bux that is a little bit pricy considering the E6600 is dual core and i have oc'd mine to 3.3ghz from 2.4ghz on the stock cooler, once i get the Tuniq Tower i will be able to get it to 4ghz or maybe a little higher.
