3 monitor setup with different resolutions

I have a question for you guys. With Fallout 4 upcoming I am now slowly getting my rig ready for it. I am currently running an i3-3220 with an HD7890 GPU. I will be upgrading to an i7-4970k and either a GTX 980 or R9 390.

My question for you guys is: do you think either of those graphics cards will be enough to run a 3 monitor setup with a center 1440p monitor and 2 1080p monitors on the sides? There isn't much information on the internet about running a multi monitor setup with different resolution monitors. As long as you guys think either of those cards will be good enough to do the job at high graphics in Fallout 4, I'll be happy. If not I will probably just stick with my single 1440p for now.

7890 won't push any pretty details by any means, but if you were ok with that it should be able to push the resolution. Not really getting a good recommendation from me.

If you do want to try for the triple display stay with AMD GPUs. Currently Nvidia does not support mixed resolutions or PLP in surround.

Guru 3D did a really nice overview on how to set up a mixed res Eyefinity setup with an R9 295 x2. Might want to give it a read over.

Keep in mind. If the displays don't work out to the same pixel densities, you will probably see different sized images on each screen in Eyefinity. To me that would be too distracting to enjoy the game.

Thanks for the link. I'm sticking with my single 1440p and may even decide to just get a new WQHD 4k. According to that article I would have to use "fit" mode in eyefinity which would basically cut off the top of my 1440p screen in order to make it match up with the 1080p displays. No way I am doing that, it would kill the whole purpose of having a 1440p display.

As far as the GPU upgrade I'll probably go with a GTX 980 or maybe a 980Ti.
