Is there a way to run 3 monitors without using SLi? Search on google only shows results from a year ago or so.

Yeah. Either get 3 cards, or cards with multiple outputs.

The GTX580 has 2 DVI and 1 HDMI. But everyone just kept mentioning how nVidia cards can only head 2 monitors per card.
