3 Motherboards - NO POST

I have had 3 motherboards from Overclockers UK
2 x GIGABYTE MA-770-UD3
GIGABYTE MA-770-ES3
Power Supply is brand new
CPU is brand new
Brand new graphics Card

PC will not post
First 2 MB's sent back - both duff
Received 3rd MB today (ES3) - installed everything PC wont POST
Have I
a) done the same thing 3 times and f***ed the MB's
or
b) been really unlucky and got 3 duff MB from Overclockers UK
2 other people have looked at the first 2 MB's and could not get them to post either

Check all of the power cables are correct:

1 to the 24(or 20) pin conenctor on the motherboard
1 to the 4(or 8) pin connector on the motherboard
1 to each video card, if it requires them
1 to each hard drive
1 to each optical drive

If they are right, check that you have seated all parts correctly. CPU will be, it won't go in otherwise, but memory and video cards can be seated incorrectly.

What are your full system specs?

GIGABYTE MA770-ES3 MB
AMD ATHLON-II X2 250 CPU
GEFORCE 8400GS
KINGSTON 1GB DDR2 MEMORY
CORSAIR VX450W Power Supply
Checked everything more than once

Its possible that the motherboard is shorting out against the case, did you use the brass standoffs between the case and motherboard?

You might want to try assembling everything outside of the case on a piece of cardboard to see if it boots up then.

Motherboard mounted correctly for all 3 motherboards
2nd motherboard was tested removed from the case, still no POST
1st motherboard tested by Overclockers after being returned to them and no POST

Looks like they received a bad batch of mobo's from gigabyte, or the MA 770 series is bad.

Sorry
Should have mentioned previously that when 1st MB was returned to Overclockers also sent CPU which they confirmed was OK and sent it back to me.

Received the following from Overclockers regarding the 2nd MA-770-UD3 MB I returned

"Motherboard posts with all memory slots filled and your memory included with no issues (bios and windows), also test with one stick in different slots, Bios has been updated to latest version, which may fix incompatability issues, please try again and check other components for faults / incompatability."

Perhaps I chose a CPU from the MB Compatability list on the Gigabyte Web Site that may not have been compatible with the BIOS on the MB?

Could be possible. At least you know it works when you get it back and if it doesn't post after you assemble it then you know it's something bad on your end.

If you've gone through 3 motherboards I'd be looking at the RAM. If it sits there with a blank screen, beeps or no, it's probably bad RAM (or dud RAM slots)

Got motherboard back
When I sent it back to them I included a 1MB stick of my memory. they say it worked.
I tried 2 graphics cards, 2 monitors, 4 sticks of memory in different slots.
Still no POST.

Try building the system together outside of your case, on a piece of cardboard, just to eliminate any shorting issues.

Took the PC to a shop
They found an issue with the power supply (24 pin showed a fault)
New Power Supply, everything now works
Thanks for everyones commments
