1. how do I tell what graphics card I have installed? I bought my computer 3 years ago and never found out.

2. I have this monitor:

http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-F...1_1/102-7020441-9691329?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

can it watch good graphics? for example, if I were to be able to watch a blu ray or hd dvd movie on my computer, would this screen be able to see it in full quality?

3. what is the difference between CRT and LCD screens and which ones better? I am assuming that LCD is better since it's more expensive.

thanks for the answers.

btw I am not planning on playing any computer games any time soon, I would just like to know.

No you wont be able to watch blu-ray or HD-DVD movies, because your monitor and video card need to be HDCP compliant in order to watch them.

Personally I prefer LCD's over CRT's because they are much lighter, use less power, are brighter, and take up much less space.

an LCD is a flat screen, like a plasma TV and a CRT is bulkier and extends backwards about 1ft. also, your monitor won't play HD content because you need a HD monitor, HD graphics card and a HD DVD drive, all of whicxh cost around $600+, you would be better off buying a HD TV which would be much larger and better quality

lcd monitors are much nicer then crt when it comes to displaying graphics. atleast newer ones are.

before i got a 2nd 19" LCD, i had 1 next to a 17" CRT and the difference was amazingly obvious. the LCD actually made the CRT look dim and blurry since its so crisp and bright.

don't know how it would look compaired to a 3 year old LCD (sometime later today or tomarrow i'll grab the old 15" lcd from my other pc and compair it with the new 19" LCDs and 17" CRT) , but i'm sure that even an old LCD is better then a new CRT.

and, i really doubt you need a special video card and monitor to play blu-ray or hddvd movies on a pc. wouldn't you only need the blu-ray dvd drive or hd-dvd drive for the pc? you'd just have the black bars on the top and bottem of the screen like when you watch a widescreen movie. the computers analog or digital output thats already connecting your monitor to the pc would probably work just fine, afterall, its worked fine for EVERY other type of video signel thats existed for the past 15+ years.

CRT > big glass tube tv looking display
LCD> Liquid Crystal Display - sounds much better and is flat screen more space for your desk

if we really want to get technical about this, the difference between CRT and LCD is only in the screen, not how deep the monitor is. it just so happens that most CRT monitors are bigger because its cheaper to make them that way, but you can find CRT monitors and and CRT TVs that are not much deeper than LCD screens...

No you do need a video card that supports HDCP, most newer cards do but the older ones and integrated ones dont. If you dont have an HDCP compatible video card and monitor, then you cant watch Blu-Ray or HD-DVD videos.
