Can anyone give me a link to where i can buy a decent 6800gt PCI-E or x800xl PCI-E that only requires around 300w to run and is around $290?

its gonna be around that price but I think they both require 350watt powersupplies, correct me if im wrong. HOwever, i have the x850pro which required 350watt psu and it ran fine on my 300watt psu with only 15amps on the 12v rail...

Since my mother board only supports a 300w power supply would I be better of getting this mobo that comes free if you buy the 7800gt card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188002 and then this case for better cooling then my current casr and it comes with a 450w psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811156175 and then just transfer my cd drives my amd athlon 64 3500+ my ram my hard drive and my 9 in 1 card reader? Or would I be better of take a chance on a 6800gt card useing a 300w psu.

but then how much RAM do you have?
if you plan on gaming get atleast a gig of non value ram.
the cpu is fine.

im not sure.

would he be better of getting almost a new computer and just transfere the hdd and cpu "depending on RAM if it should transfere"

make sure the psu has enough 12vrail to delever and the 7800gt needs 400? or 350? i think 400 for sli.

I got a gb of DDR400 Ram at the moment and thinking about updateing soon. But if you look at the case the psu in it is 450watts PS2 ATX12V SATA Ready

ATM just the case and the mother board that comes with a discount for the 7800gt card I am probley going to get. Will the power supply on the case work with sli?

Or could someone recommand a case and a desent power supply of around 450w (not looking for anything fancy such as light etc just A bang for ur buck case and power supply) and will support the motherboard, the card and sli configurations thanks.

Im not too sure what make the PSU is but 450W should be fine for a SINGLE 7800GT ! but usally the psu`s that come with cases are crappy :(.

these are recommended psu specs for the BFG 7800GT if this helps !

- Single card requires min. 400W PSU
- SLI configuration requires min. 500W PSU

i've never heard of a motherboard not supporting a power supply over 300watts. your motherboard will take all the power it needs and nothing more (as long as its working correctly) there is absolutely no problem with getting any psu you need.

obviously you need some power in hand so that it operates without fluctuating.

i always try to ensure that i have at least 100 watts over what i think the system will need.

No i asked them they said that the mother board only can take a 300w power supply. Anyone got a recommendation on a 500w psu?
