32 bit vs 64 bit gaming-wise

Is there a massive difference? I'm thinking about updating soon for Vista for gaming to use with DX10 (Although at this point, Vista seems like it's not my best bet for games), But back to my original question, is there a huge difference between a 32 bit pc and a 64 bit pc?

And what are all your opinions on gaming computers running vista?

I have zero problems with games on 64bit, if you buy vista i would go ahead and get 64bit to be more "future proof" and have the ability to have up to 16Gb of ram (not that you would ever use/need that much) lol

haha, yeah, 16 is a bit excessive. I heard that vista causes games to run worse than XP, is this true? or is it possibly just some peoples hardware being incompatible?

I didn't experience any slowdown on my rig but it seems that most people do. I used 32bit Vista so I can't vouch for the performance game-wise on a 64bit. It's all on the drivers really, and they may not be as mature for 64bit as they are for 32.

I think with powerful video cards (I was running 2x 7900GT) you experience little slowdown, if any.
