32" LCD tv as pc monitor

I have win7 ultimate x64 pc. Recently i removed my old view sonic computer monitor and conected the PC to my 32" LCD tv. The LCD tv is 1920x1080 full hd. But i only get the maximum resolution as 1024x768 in screen resolution options though i have a graphic card of nVidia 7300/7200gs. Once i started my pc in safe mode and again restarted in normal mode then the maximum resolution was 1364x768. Wht am i not getting the actual 1920x1080 resolution ? OR how to get a greater resolution greater than 1024x768 ?

that video card sucks donkey is the main thing, i mean i'd thinkj i would be able to do it, but i think it can't because if you tried to run a hd video on that res screen, you'd be getting like 10fps. although my nvidia geforce 7050 goes to 1280x960 perfectly fine with a 17" screen, might want to find the detect screen option.
