My setup is below and I was wondering if you guys would go with windows xp pro 64 bit over the 32 bit version, 32 bit version reads 3.5 gb ram. Is the 64 bit version worth install for the extra 512 mb of ram to be seen? I have both and will not need to purchase a new OS.

Basically the differences are the drivers and stuff, but that is solvd. the big diffie now is the RAM. the 64 bit reads way past the 3.25gb ram barrier the 32 bit sees. get the 64 bit dude.

I feel that if 32bit is more stable and compatible (I've no experience, I just know what I hear) I'd use it. You aren't going to notice a speed difference between 3 and 4gb's of ram, certainly nothing obvious (unless I guess you're running uber programs).

And hey, it only takes an hour or so to install a new o/s, changing isn't difficult. Or dual boot...

i have 512 mb video card, so it reads 3.5, the 768 mb 8800's will show 3.25 ram.

an as for your DVD burners go i don't like light on brand get (ASUS my fav, LG)

1066 mhz will be faster, i do not overclock.

and the hard drive you show me is slower with a mere 16 mb cache, the 7200.11 have a large 32mb cache.

I have used lite-on optical drives for years and have never had any issues with even a single drive from them, so I stick to using them, they are the least expensive out of the name brand burners and perform very well.

The differences are 64 bit architecture and memory addressing. The problem is, that Microsoft, is retarded and they developed their OS in a kind of backwards way that makes it hard for developers to make applications and drivers that are compatible with Vista.

Even if you are running 64bit OS with over 4 gigs of RAM and you happen to be running a 32 bit application, it does not take advantage of anything. So, really, until everything is fully 64bit there is no major advantage at all to running 64bit with over 4 gigs of RAM.

ok the HDD i went for more reliable all my seagates die in less than a year.
an do u think the HDD will use anywhere near 32MB of cache it will only use about 3MB of the cache.
an about the ram the MHz speed is not everything the 800 i showed u is what i think is the best brand when it comes to ram. also the ram i showed u has a Cas Latency of 4-4-4-12 not 5-5-5-15 the corsair ram i said is faster

Most third-party applications and software aren't supported by 64-bit OSs. That's mainly the reason I don't have 64-bit.

I have Vista 64bit, and it works fine with my applications... BF2, BF2142, Halo, Halo 2, ect... even the non Vista supporting softwares... PDF Reader (not Adobe), Hypercam 2, FRAPS, ect...

64bit OSes support up to 128GB of RAM. But if you go with 32bit, Microsoft sells a disk (about $10) that can "upgrade" your OS to 64bit :)
