320gb 7200rpm

I have an HP Pavilion dv9810 laptop with a 160GB 5400RPM disk drive installed. What is the largest 7200 RPM drive I can install? Will the PC interface handle the 7200 RPM? Will I see much system performance increase? What about increased heat and power load? What, if any other issues do I need to know?

Thank you

You will lose a little battery life, but, if you get a 320gb 5400 rpm drive, it WILL be as fast as a 160gb 7200 rpm drive. I would get a large (320+gb) 5400rpm drive.

The largest is 320GB, you can buy one for the SATA interface for around $180. You will notice a performance increase with loading times and transferring of large files.

Omega:
I assume you are referring to a 7200 rpm drive? If so, where can I get? By the price you quote, it looks like you are quoting a 5400 rpm. In that case, how does a larger capacity 5400 rpm improve throughput?

OK, thanks Omega. One last question. I assume the disk drive in question can be installed in my HP laptop w/o any issues? I plan to use Drivesolutions transfer kit to transfer a mirror image of my current internal drive to the 320 unit. Thank you

I believe it will, however you need to make sure that your current hard drive is SATA and not IDE. I tried searching online but couldn't find out which one it has.
