3350p vs i7 975

Hello again, need some advice cant find much different sites what are showing me what is the better cpu.
so hope you can tell me.
3350p enginering sample or the i7 975.
just witch 1 is overall faster.

That's a tough one, as the i7 975 is 5 years old, so you aren't going to find benchmarks. Is this just a hypothetical question or do you have both? They are different sockets so not interchangeable. I'd probably lean towards the i5 as it's several generations newer.

i have both, i now the 3350p is newer, and that the use different sockets.
And i now about the better functions of the 1155 socket, but thats not inportent, its just the raw performence of the cpu i mean.
So in general, gaming/photoshop,cinema4d/winrar, witch on would be faster.

I'd say the i7-975 - based on the applications you listed.
The i5 obviously don't have HyperThreading, and the software sounds like multi-core optimized :)
You also run it at 4.1GHz, so even if you disabled HT, it would be faster.

Here's the i7 975 vs an i5 3470 (closest thing I could find to the 3350P): http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/99?vs=702

Looking at the results, I would probably go with the i5 actually since it's newer than the 975 and not a lot slower. You could use an i7 3770K in the same board and that would be faster than a 975: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/99?vs=551

Just goes to show really that these i7 Extremes aren't great value for money when they're new, if you can wait a few years and get something worth less than half the cost of what the i7 Extreme was new, yet is faster...

Thanks spirit, but again, i dont care if its newer, and that i can stick another cpu on that board.
I now the i7 extreme isent good value for the money, and i dont have to wait a couple of years, a change pc,s more then i chance my underwear haha.
but this time i,m just whant the raw performence, this time i diddent whant to change any cpu, just keep the i7 or the 3350p, and upgrade in a different videocard or somthing else.

no i have 2 cpu,s yes, only for the 3350p i dont have a mobo and mem, cooler yet, so i,m working now on the system thats in my signature.
