if shes on a limited account then she cant have cancelled updates..... its up to admins to carry out update tasks etc..... so im guessing thats your account??

im not certain on this but i think you should be able to go back and get any critical updates. i bought a new hard drive a couple of months ago and i was able to get all of the updates from service pack 2 onward, i dont see how your situation is any different.

you should probably also set up your updates so they install automatically at a specific time when no one will be on the computer, so whoever is cancelling the updates wont do it anymore.

go to www.microsoft.com and got to microsoft updates and it should find the updates for your computer.

Open up internet explorer 6. go to tools then Windows Update, they are all there.

You should probably create a couple other user accounts too so that way no one can mess with the updates at all. Who does the computer belong to.

thanks for the links I got it on the the laptop but even on the highest settings im still getting pop-ups I also have ad aware aswell there is no stopping them!
