37" HD LCD, x1900XT 256MB upgrade?

I agree that the 37 is a little big, maybe downsize to something like a 24 then upgrade something else. Try for maybe getting a Core 2 Duo processor instead. I think that would be a better option.

Hmmm

After further review the X1900XT 256mb isn't pulling ahead of the 7900GT in FEAR and is even with the 7900GS in some games. I'm basically looking to spend $250 or less on a video card. So I'm hedging between those 3 cards. Maybe the X1900GT if it showed up for $200 again....

I have a 32in LCD high def widescreen tv that I use as both my television and my computer monitor. Its cool - big - but I use 4:3 ratio when Im on the computer, otherwise stretched across the screen everything looks distorted. I wonder if I am shortening the life of this thing using it for tv and monitor? Hmmmm......

Oook

Soooo I bought the 37" LCD. It's a little bright and kinda annoying to auto detect switchingbetween modes. BUT my games display at any res just fine with no stretching in full screen mode. I run 1024x768 in games and 1920x1080 on the desktop. I think I may be getting a tad motion sick in FEAR. Every other game is fine. So I may bite the bullet and take it back because I have the 45 day return period. Maybe I'm just not used to it? The recommended distance is 54inches and I'm sitting about 40 inches away. So hmm. Any thoughts?:D

I said this in another post but,set up your computer in a bigger room and place the monitor far to the to the back, should make it look alot nicer. And the x1900XT is better than the 7900GT in many cases but the 7900GT isnt too bad a card,i'd go for the x1900XT imo because it can do HDR and FSAA at the same time while the Nvidia cards cant.

37" HD LCD returns.

Well the 37" monster is BACK. I had it before in my office and I was just sitting too close to it. So I moved my computer to my room. Then I saw the 37" Westinghouse HD LCD 1080P 1920x1080 on sale for $799 and I got it with no tax. So for a 4yr warranty and a wall mount I paid $969. It normally goes for $1399. It's the BOMB. I'm going to mount it soon and I will post some pictures of it. I also may use my 22" Widescreen in a dual monitor setup. :P :D :P

A 37" TV with only a resolution of 1920x1080 will look pretty bad when your sitting up close. You wont be able to see the details of text or images. You would be better going with an actual computer monitor instead of an HDTV.

It's an HD LCD and it's not that it looks bad that close but it's a little bit of a strain and a lot to take in. It does look amazing even up close. It's actually quite stunning. Text and detail is just breathtaking even at 3-4 ft. I've used it at 1920x1080 in the past (the last time I had it) and currently at 1650x1080. I just can't wait to get an 8800GTS or higher to enable VSYNC to get rid of the tearing that occurs in games like FEAR. Which occurs on ANY of the 7 monitors in my house with any of the 6 video cards we have.
