Heya guys, got a little problem, when i first put this comp together i managed to get 5647 at default settings, now when i run 06 the best i can get is 4677, i have got the latest video and mobo drivers, i run the test with the very minimum programs in the background but no matter what i can do it just won't get past 4700, anything you guys can suggest? it really puzzled me.

Thanks guys! :D:D

the mobo drivers are nforce 4, thats properly what he meant, yea of course i have updated as the newer versions have come out, but it would be strange if newer drivers were causing a 1000 point loss

a.t.m 1.6gb with bitlord, msn running along with Firefox. i ran the tests with everything turned off, all items on the startup tab under msconfig were cleared and it was disconnected from the internet

Occasionally drivers have regression bugs which actually make performance drop in certain situations, but a thousand point loss seems an awful lot.

A defrag might help though defragging has been made kind of redundant with NTFS if that's what you're using. It can't hurt to try though.

What are your temps (inc. GPU temp)? If the GPU is running too hot, performance will be reduced.

The drop is GPU related, not hard drive related.
I'm not too sure about how 3DMark actually carries out the benchmark, but unless it's pre-cached before the test starts and all done in RAM then HDD could certainly be a factor, but I'm sure someone will reply and explain things better.

well i installed the latest amd drivers and the microsoft duel core patch en i lost another 600 points! now down to 3999 :( might be time for a format, not been done in since feb.
