Is 3GB of RAM worth it? Will it be any benefit over 2GB?

I can get another stick of my Corsair XMS2 RAM for £26...

Is going to be dual channel, the channels have to balance. It depends on what you are using it for too.

I have two 1GB sticks in dual channel at the moment... I mainly use it for gaming, surfing the internet, music and some college work

once you jump from dual to single you WILL notice degrade in speed just like when you go from broadband back to dialup

If you have memory hungry applications running, making your pagefile very busy, then you will see big difference. In a 3x1GB config your memory controller will run dual channel over the first 2GB, and go single on the last
