i tried 2 seperate hsf still 72c LOL was wondering the average temp for this core since i though something was wrong with it i was able to get it down to 60c with the max on the fan control which is like 6000+rpm and it sound worst than a jet engine.

assuming the case temp is reasonable (~20C) a prescott with a good aftermarket HSF should be around 50C

It should be noted Cromwell's box is in the vacinity of the air-conditioner and in the basement :P 35C isnt bad per se i guess it depends on the ambient room temperature; within 10C of the room temp should be an ideal range for the case temp ... so if your room temp is -10C and your case is 35C you got problems etc

my chas is like 48c and my chip is like 72c LOL i put just one micro blob and after the heatsink sits it just smears the entire chip! how small is the blob suppose to it?

Is 72 c when playing games or video type programs?

i went into bios hardware monitor and turned up the thermaltake xaser to max got it to 50c BUT! thing thing is when i loaded windows xp MBM5 saids the cpu is running at 72c and the chas is 48c either that program is seriously screwed up or something.

too hot! make sure that the HSF has a good contact with the processor. Also, like ppl said, apply a very thin layer of AS5 or whatever compound you are using. AS5 works the best, though.
