I know,.. a petty pointless question, but i imply had to ask :)
wil a sli mobo and 2 cards with 2 dvi outputs each, could you actually work wih 4 monitors?
if so, what use could it be?

I know it's possible with mulitple video cards, should be possible with say an AGP and PCI video card(both with duel outputs) so I'd also assume you could have quad out, but I don't know for sure...

Been there, done that...
It is useful but having a 15" LCD, 19"Lcd and 2 15" crts (in ultra ugly beige of course) is a little hard on the eyes...

would be nice if games were capable of multi-monitor play... i.e. 1 screen for map/score, 1 for playing....
4 monitors is great for... um.... watching the stock market?

im sure toca race driver supported multiple monitors using the matrox parhelia (sp?). i think it used on monitor for the forward view and two others for left and right... i wonder how cool that was

i was wondering why no one had suggested that, the whole point of sli is to combine the two card to work as one, you wouldn't then be able to run them seperately.

For what you are suggesting you simply need to have 2 graphics cards which you can do in any old machine with or without the expense of sli
