400mhz at 333mhz speed?

my motherboard has a chart which to me shows that if i have 4gb double sided dual channel ram (1gb in each slot) the max speed i can go is 333mhz, but is it possible to use 400mhz and will it run at 333mhz speed?

motherboard : Msi K8n diamond sli
Ram: ocz pc3200 dual platinum ddr 400mhz

Yes

I believe that is what they mean. If you pop-in RAM that is capable of speeds higher than 333Mhz, it will still only run at 333Mhz, unless there is a way to overcome that. One more thing, I am afraid that only 3.5GB will be utilised, and not the full 4. However, you would have to read into that matter more.

Jan, where did you hear that? Is that exclusive only to his board or is that a blanket statement?
