42" 1080P HD TV compatablility/requirements.

So I bought this samsung tv when I got married a year and a half ago and out of circumstance, have been using it as my monitor. I have been seeing these threads pop up latley about video cards and being able to run the FPS smoothly on the monitor. My question is what card do I need to supporrt this tv in my new build? Also why did my 6 year old $300.00 dell powere it just fine for a whole year. (actually the dell had intigrated grafics in the mobo and that fried so maybe this is why) I used to play alot of CS with it just fine.

BTW: only use is movies (online and DVDs) youtube, forums, lots of games.

Your onboard card handled it well because you just played CS on it. Try playing any new games and it will most definetly choke. Exactly what type of games are you looking to play and what's your budget?

I want to play CS1.6 CS:S COD 4 maybe some flight games. I am doing a core i7 build for around $1000.00-$1,300.00. But I am willing to spend $300.00 on a card.
