Everything is more expensive in the UK. Not sure why, exactly.

Yeah, the 45nm will definitely be better for overclocking, and they will run cooler. As far as prices, I'm not sure, but they'll be higher than what the chart reflects due to demand. The Q9450 seems like the best deal, and I wouldn't be suprised to see it debut a little above 400 USD. And yeah, expect to see the 45nm procs between Feb-March, but, as far as I know, a final release date has not been set.

If it is around $400 I will be happy. I am expecting more in my mind.
 
so would a 45 nm that cost the same price as a core2duo/quad be better?

like would it be not as good cos they are new and would cost more? or would the cheaper ones still outperform todays processors?
