4850 got quieter?

I dled all the new drivers and everything and now it sounds as if my video card got quieter, and it seems the fan doesnt go as fast as it used to, should this be happening?
 
maybe there was problems with the fan running faster than needed on your card and they done an update in the drivers to solve the problem
 
The 8.7 drivers had tons of fan issues, the new 8.8 drivers have began to fix these issues somewhat. My fan finally runs more than it was before, thank god.
 
k well i downloaded the new 8.8 drivers but when i click on device manager and look at the driver that i have for my video card it says its only driver version: 8.522.0.0? is the drivers only for the catalyst control center? Also when i look in the catalyst control center and go to the overdrive tab it says that my gpu temp is at 80'c when not even playing games, isn't that really high?
