4850 vs 3870

for those that have hard trouble deciding for these cards.

4850 is faster in

- Crysis's hidden ultra setting
- Cryostasis
- Metro 2033
- Dx10 max setting



3870 is faster in
- Crysis's medium setting
- ModernWarefare 2
- QW enemy territory
- Counter Strike
- DX10 medium setting
- DX9 max setting



overall 4850 is only faster in max setting of Dx10. 3870 is faster in pure speed. whats the point to play games on max setting in DX10 when both cards dont do well? 4850 get 16fps and 3870 get 13fps. choose 3870 for pure speed. 3870 is faster in pure speed. 3870 win. who upgrade to 4850 from 3870 is a fool.

why 4850 is faster in those game listed is those game is flowing with millions of heavy shading. thanks to 4850 with its 800 shader stream... but no thanks since its speed power is not enough to have decent performance. want to play those game on max then get gtx260/5770 up+

Umm... i did, and i saw lwoer minimum framerates in crysis, maxed out with the 3870... anyway i have a 5770 now and that is a good upgrade from a 4850.

And my 4850 was faster all around, i don't know where yo are getting your info from

I did my own benchmarks with cs:s and lots of other games... dammit where did i put them :S

3870 is slower overall then a 8800GT/9800GT. The 4850 is more in league with the 9800GTX+/GTS 250

Uhh, no. Considering the 8800gt/9800gt are faster than the 8800GTS 640mb....

The 8800gt is closer in performance to the HD4830.
The 3870 probably closest to an 8800GSO.

The 4850 easily beats out a 3870 Gddr4. If you are talking anything but Gddr4, the 3870 is a dog.
A 4850 will handle AA and AF much much better than a 3870.

And an 8800gt/9800gt EASILY whips a 3870. I've owned both, no comparison.
