4870 X2 power connection question

I'm thinking about picking up this card, and it requires 1 2x3 and 1 2x4 connection. I have a Delta GPS-750AB PSU which has 4 2x3 connections and 1 2x4 connection but I need that one to power my motherboard. Is there an adapter? And will 750 watts be enough? Thanks.

What do you mean by a 2x3? a six pin connector? if you have 3, then you should be able to find and adapter to make it into and 8 pin. Why bother with this though, it's probably not going to be a huge step up from a gtx 285

I have a quad crossfire mobo, eventually going to pick up another 4870X2 and go quadfire, plus I like ATI better.

Well I wasn't able to get a 4870 X2, so I'm on my way to get a GTX 465, managed to reserve the last one. Interested to see how it will compare to the 5850. Will post results later.

Dude the gtx285 is actually stronger than a gtx465...the 465 is more of an equivalent to a gtx260 or 275 but with DX11. A 5850 will be stronger than a 465 for sure.

You should really get a GTX470 if you want to upgrade.

If you have an I7 920, your board can do SLI and crossfire. Get another gtx285 for SLI and you will have a super kickass setup!

Yeah I know the 285 is faster, but I wanted DX11. This card isn't bad at all, it's fast and the temps are the exact same as the 285, except the fan is quiter. I'm only gaming at 1440 x 900, so this card is more then enough for me. I paid $275 for this card and I got a buyer for my 285 who wants to pay $300, so works for me. And thanks for pointing out that my mobo can do SLI and Cross Fire, I thought it was Crossfire only, so later on down the road I will defenitaly pick up another one. So thus far, heat not a big issue at all, and I could care less about power consumption.

Apparently the 465 can be unlocked to 470 spec because it's basically the same card.

Awesome!

I don't see how they are the same card at all. Less stream processors, less ram, smaller bus width, etc...

There's a thread on it over at ocn, most cards only have 8/10 ram chips(it's the same exact pcb as the 470), NvSpec81 is going to try and unlock it+ add more ram to it

I've seen a few sites that have done it, but I'm to scared to brick my card. And I have been re-playing many of my games, and my 465 kicks ass. Especially in Bad Company 2, this card kicks the crap out of my 285, which I have sold, and the 5850 which I took back a couple of weeks ago. And this is with 32x CSAA, where with the 5850 the max was 8x AA, and 16x CSAA with the 285. And it performs just as well in Crysis as the 285 @ 16x QAA. So is this card worth it? Yes. Plus the sled demo that Nvidia has on there site really shows the potential of the 400 series GPU's with Physx and Tesselation which are the future of DX11 gaming. So ATI better get there shit together, because I see a comeback for Nvidia.
