Well I just got my 4870 x2 today. Installed it, I'm on it right know. Plays everything that I can throw at it, with incredible frame rates. I might buy a second one, but not any time soon. Thats for sure. As for water cooling, I have no experience there at all. But I do recomend this card and if you didn't no, the x2 means that its basically to cards built together. So buying one would be like running two. Hope I have helped.![]()
P.S. Make sure you buy a BIG case, if my case was about half an inch smaller this card wouldn't have fit. I struggled to get it into the case without hitting the sides. Just a small heads up.
I plan on getting 1 4850 x2 the 2gig one, i was watching this video on it.

during the benchmarks the 4870 x2 wasnt all that much higher. It was only higher by a few frames.
Yeah, but in the long run it will be worth it.
To water cool it, the only option is a full cover block and you're going to want at least a dual 120mm radiator. If you're going to have the CPU block in there too, then you'll want at least a triple 120mm. These things put out way to much heat for a small radiator.
Well I love this card, its amazing but I do think running two is a bit ridiculous but its up to you.
naught, i was going to get the 4850 x2 2gb because its 200 dollars less and on this video where they benchmarked it the 4870 x2 only got a few frames more.

Go to the timer of 5:57 when he goes over the frames.
What you think i should do?
4870 will outperform the 4850 in the higher resolutions and more demanding programs.
What resolution are you playing at. Many of the top gpus now are not worth it for most people as Steam surveys say that the average game plays on a 17" monitor. At that or even a 20" monitor, a 4850 is well and truly enough. 512mb of dd5 ram and that card will suit most people within the game development cycle vs gpu lifetime.
Not worth the upgrade for that system imho.
Yeah, at the most, I'd say a GTX 280 would suffice.

That's some advertising right there, Mike!
I wouldn't get two of 'em. You wouldn't be able to buy any pants big enough to fit your e-penis.
One of them is more than enough, even for a 24" monitor, the 2GB will be enough. You'll still be able to run at an insane res (1920 x 1200) and still have memory to force AA and AF on.
Plus, once newer cards come out and you have two, you'll have a hard time selling them both.
