i heard that 32-bit editions of windows cant take more than 4Gb ram?
if this is true, does it mean 4096Mb (4 x 1024Mb) or 4000Mb?
I think it's 3gb from what I heard.

The actual max is very dependant on the system. There is a fairly big range on exactly how much is recognized but it's somewhere around 3GB mark.No it is 3.50 at least on my 32 windows xp pro sp2.

Does the 64 bit require a hardware upgrade?Same with 32 bit vista if you want your computer to recognize all 4 gigs get the 64 bit version cause that can recognize up to 128 gb of ram.
