4Gb max for 32bit windows?

i heard that 32-bit editions of windows cant take more than 4Gb ram?
if this is true, does it mean 4096Mb (4 x 1024Mb) or 4000Mb?

Windows 32 bit versions can only recognize 3.5 gigs of ram not 4.

No it is 3.50 at least on my 32 windows xp pro sp2.

Same with 32 bit vista if you want your computer to recognize all 4 gigs get the 64 bit version cause that can recognize up to 128 gb of ram.

The actual max is very dependant on the system. There is a fairly big range on exactly how much is recognized but it's somewhere around 3GB mark.

Oh ok all I know is in the system properties it says 3.50 with the specs in my sig.

If you dont have a 64 bit processor than you need one. What processor do you have.

I was looking at getting the quad after the prices drop. I'll see if it is 64 bit
