$500 PC Build for a friend

My friend asked me to get him a $500 computer to play some games and do work on i just wondering if the build i put together was good, we live in Australia so the parts here aren't always the easiest to find

I would probably spend slightly more to get intel such that there is room for upgrade. I am not sure how good is the PSU come with case.

If you want to stick with APU, I suggest your motherboard choose A88X chipset
And RAM get DDR3 2133.
 
unfortunately the website in Australia i like to use doesn't have all those parts and its alot easier to just get all the parts from one website so your not waiting for parts from other websites that take a while.
so the build i have is that compatible with each other and will it work nicely?
 
You will completely regret a single module/dualcore for gaming. At least go for the 7600 Kaveri that has double the CPU cores and 50% more GPU cores.

which website are u using?
 
These are the lowest end parts I would buy from that site:
  • Intel G3258: $89
  • ASRock H81M: $79
  • Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB: $95
  • Fractal Design Core 1100: $59
  • Antec Basiq 500W: $65

As you might notice, a GPU is missing. I always thought Australia had it really bad in terms of hardware prices, but your prices are similar or sometimes cheaper than Denmark! :mad:
You could save a few $ by using your original case+PSU combo. Personally I wouldn't, but I'm very picky about my hardware :) Thermaltake is a reputable brand, so you'd probably be fine.
You could also shave around $30-40 off the CPU and get a 2.9GHz version of the same. But this one is overclockable (and easy to do so as well) and will be much better performing.

it is slightly over, but I would suggest you get this than APU.

I can see where you're coming from if he bought something higher end than the 730 down the road, but currently a A8-7600 would offer more performance graphically than that horrible discrete card.

With LGA1150, you can upgrade all the way to i5/ i7. But with APU, you can only able to upgrade to A10.

If he got a bit spare cash, best go got to intel 9 series chipset, which will support next gen CPU
