I'm looking for basically the best gaming laptop I can find for around 500 dollars USD. Has to be fairly portable too and a decent battery life. Suggestions? I'm pretty out of touch with laptops and the searching I did on Newegg didn't yield much luck.

Yes I know I won't get much gaming performance for that but a mid range dedicated card shouldn't be crazy hard to find.

Could you do $600? For a $604.99 you can get a notebook running a AMD A8 5550M + Randeon 8750M 2 GB or for 679.99 you could get a AMD A10 5750M with 8610G + Radeon 8750M 2 GB.

Cisco001; you need to know that you will never find people who are willing to double there budget. What I am asking for most people find impossible.

Well maybe I got incredibly lucky but in like September I found a 530 dollar machine that had an AMD Crossfire setup with an APU that could play Skyrim on high. The one I'm looking for now is actually for a friend. I was hoping to find something similar but I guess the price was just unusually good then. Thanks.

That is a good deal, I was looking on newegg and most running the cross fire setup are $600+, I usually recommend this setup though for anyone who needs a gaming notebook for under 1k as this usually provides the best result. Talk to your friend and see if they could go $600ish as this would provide the best results.

Will do. Funnily enough I'll be looking for a laptop just like this come May when I graduate HS. I'll be getting one with graduation money.

Doesn't AMD release there new APU's around that time? Might be good for you if they do!

When you say 'mid-range' GPU, I would take GT750m/ GTX760m as mid-range, and laptop with that would cost $900-1000

Is a 8750m a mid-range?

Well our definitions of mid range are a bit different I guess. ^^I'd consider an 8750M about what I'm looking for.

Friend said he'd wait a while and get some more money anyway.

an 8750m + 8610G is definitely high mid-range setup as that will be able to run most games on high settings so easily qualifies.
