did they ever make 512MB AGP's? im a bit skeptical on what i should buy 4 my next upgrade, 512MB RAM, or a better video card..

Theres no point getting a high performance AGP card if you only have 256MB ram to play with..

You'll have a huge bottleneck

dude.... it is NOT worth it to get a better videocard in your system... you need to serioustly get some better things before you consider a new videocard or RAM.... how many games can you out on a 10gig HDD anyways

There's no point in dropping more money in upgrading your dell, it's a waste of money. Save up some money, then build a system from ground up, it would be MUCH better.

But if you REALLY want to upgrade, get a gig of ram.

Yes they do make 512MB models, however almost all of them are useless, since there low end cards to begin with. The only 512MB AGP cards that would be worth it is the new x1950 for AGP, or one of the higher end 7xxx series.

I strongly agree. You could buy a 7950GX2, or a 7600GS, but since your other components are pretty low, you will still have low framerates in games.

yeah, but it's not like i game like crazy like you guys, cause yous have no lives, i do, i just play games here and there...having a 3.5GHZ, 2GB RAM computer, just 4 games that are not demanding, and internet is really stupid....

The truth is, my highest guess for playing games on my computer is once a week :)

If you want to game, get a better computer. It doesn't cost to much to buy a new setup that would cream your current one. For instance, 512mb of DDR2800, A motherboard with a pci express slot, 7600gs, 3200+, a new powersupply, and case. there you are; that could be had for under $400, easily.

i'm sorry, but i never knew there was such thing as a 3.5ghz processor :D

Anyways, I'm not saying you should get like a 8800gtx or something, I'm saying that you are wasting money upgrading your computer to this extent. The machine is old, past the point of upgrading. It would be much better to build a budget 400 dollar system that will probably destroy that system in almost anything.

your like trying to keep upgrading a little pinto crap car or a car that got in a big accident

it would be cheaper to get a new system than to keep putting money into one thats already obsolete

Just because you have good hardware doesn't mean you play games 24/7. I bet you use the computer alot more the some of the members here who have good hardware.

Me for instance, I spent about $600 for my system, but I dont game that often.

And if you just play a few games, why do you want a 512MB video card?
