512Mb or 1024mb

What are the benefits of increasing to this size

i want a laptop with about 1.7ghz and 60-80 gb

that is easy to come by at a good price, but i dont know whether to spend more for 1024mb or just get 512mb

Faster performance in certain programs. It all depends on what you are doing, in certain situations you really don't need any more than 256MB.
 
Unless you were on a super strict budget I would spend the extra and go for 1024MB, More is always better...at least up to this point...more than this usually causes problems or so I hear. Bobo has a point about it depending on what you will use it for, but in my limited experience more=faster=more enjoyable laptop experience...
 
Your computer/ laptop is less likely to freeze as a result of heavy usage and looking at you CPU speed (which is not that bad) is gonna need all the help/ support it can get from the ram. If you can get more memory at a low price then go for it...the more the better...as it is said ^^^ :D
 
I certainly dont have the patience, I maxed my laptop with 2gb. But that's just me, I would invest on more memory, it just makes things run faster and smoother, especially multitasking. I hate it when my computer starts choking when it's doing too much. Besides gaming, I do a lot of graphics- Photoshop is a Memory hog. Oink, Oink...
