550$ Computer build + Question on price of parts

Was looking for a computer build of around $500 - 550 budget
I use a computer mostly for listening to music, and just playing the newest games out. Also use computer for simple stuff like MSN Messenger, also would prefer a computer to record music off of and such, so would prefer 2GB or 4GB ram also. Need enough speed so my computer isn't anything slow.
Would just ask for a complete list of parts for a computer and also a computer case, on my budget.

And my question was for the following parts how much would this computer be worth, since the seller was asking for $500

Case:
Black Apex ATX Mid Tower - The front of the case has 4 USB ports (8 USB ports in total) with a microphone and headset input aswell

Motherboard:
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8200 - This motherboard has 4 slots for RAM, and has a PCI EXPRESS slot along with a VGA / DVI / HDMI display input

CPU with Heatsink:
SOCKET AM3 AMD ATHLON II X2 Processor 3.0 GHz True Dual-Core design with 2.0 MB Total Cache - Basically a quad core chip with two cores turned off for ultra fast speed

RAM:
4 GB of Corsair XMS2DDR2 800 MHZ - Two 2 GB modules with Heatsinks attached

Hard Drive:
Hitachi SATA 1000 GB or 1 TB @ 7200 RPM - Connects with a SATA cable for lightning fast transfer rate

DVD Drive:
LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter 22x - Connects with a SATA cable for lightning fast transfer rate

Wireless Adapter:
54 MBPS Wireless G PCI Adapter

Speakers:
Logitech X240 Speakers with Ipod docking system -

Are they brand new or used?
It cost CAD$550 from NCIX.com withi similar items.

If you going to play games, you'd need to get a video card.
I suggest getting ATI 4670/ 9600GT as minium.

For harddisk, I personally prefer West digital / Seagate than Hitachi...

CPU: Get Phenom IIx2 550 if you can afford. If you are lucky, you could enable 2 core to make it back to quad core.

I haven't seen an Athlon quad core - so not sure about your description of a quad core shutting down 2 cores to make it a dual core.

when amd makes their quad cores sometimes some of the cores dont work so they make it a three or even a two but sometimes demand is so high they just disable one or two of the cores so you could get lucky and get a quad core for very cheap.

Just due to the cost of shipping

True - for the Phenom II dual and triple core CPU's. But they are a completely different technology than the Athlon.

They don't bin Phenon II as an Athlon II. There would have to be a quad core Athlon II in order for your assumption to hold up.
