55nm GTX 260

I just read that the 55nm GTX 260 is coming out sometime in September. Well I am looking to buy a video card soon, but I only have a 500W PSU with 32A on the 12V rails. Would the smaller chip require less power? Or is it just cooler?

Edit: My current PSU will not support the 65nm GTX 260 so I was wondering if I should wait for 55nm to come out.

Yes your PSU will handle the GTX 260.

It even says so on Nvidia's website. Minimum Power Recommendation is 500W.

But it requires 36A on the 12V rail. I only have 32A. Even if I could run it, which is probably could, I don't want to overload my PSU a whole lot.

The smaller chip does mean less heat, like you said. I'm not entirely sure on the less power though, it may do. But I can't imagine it being much.

Hmmm well I posted on the thread about power supplies by video card. They said I could run the 9800GTX, but not the GTX 260. Oh well I'm looking for more of a single slot solution. Here is my situation.

I don't have a whole lot of breathing room. I could take the fan out, or move the wireless card down and move the fan up, but that usually results in having to install new wireless drivers. Plus my case would most likely have better ventilation if I kept with a single slot card. I'm looking at the 8800GT, 9800GT, and the 4850. Unless the 9800GTX+ is way better, I'm looking at single slot. My budget is about $200 right now but I could save up if I knew if the 55nm GTX 260 would run on my comp.
