I just ordered my new BE 955 and some new parts, but Im running my old 8600gts gpu.. it needs to be replaced. I can spend a about $200 because that's all I have at the moment.

these cards are both in the same price range, but I like the directx11 on the 5770 and there a few good games coming out the utilize it, but people say that the 4890 is a better choice. Some advise?

or

4890

But, if there is anything better at this price range let me know and why.

Thanks for all the help in advance, plus if there are any cards that blow these out of the water at $300 im interested because I could save for that, its only a $100 more so why be a penny pincher when it comes to better technology.

True the 5770 is DirectX 11, its closer in performance to the 4870, but the 4890 just plain beats it in performance. In Nvidia close to the 4870/4890 is the GTX 260/275.

4890 without a doubt...dont get a 5770 just because it has DX11.

By the time most games take advantage of DX11 the 5770 will probably be outdated quite a bit and you wont get the full DX11 experience.

Thats just my opinion,Many might diss-agree....i just say get a high end DX10 like the 4890 :) or something like a 285GTX.

If its top dog its Nvidia, If its bang for buck its ATI

The 4890 beat it hands down. The 5770 is a great card but in reality, dx 11 isn't realy gonna help that much. Most games don't support it & the 4890 in performance terms will dominate. 4890 is equal to around a GTX 260. Now thats hyper performance
