5770 vs. BF3

Unfortunately, my next gaming build is at least a year away. I don't want to wait that long to play BF3! How do you guys think the rig in my sig will play this game? Do you think it'd be a good idea to spend a couple hundred dollars upgrading my GPU? Or will my 5770 be fine until I can build a new rig a year from now?

yeah, you should be able to get low settings at 1920x1080, or you can get some decent settings at like 1600xWhatever, the 5770 is a good card, maybe overclock it a little and you should be able to get some pretty good settings.

The 5770 should be enough for anything up to 1080p, your CPU is really the bottleneck. 2.5ghz on a Phenom I is simply too low of a clock to play modern games smoothly.

This is the reason I will be building a new PC in about a year... Thankfully with ATI's Catalyst Control I can overclock this card pretty easily. My monitor's native resolution is also 1650x1050 so from what you guys are saying I should be able to play it at roughly medium settings.

Thanks for the input.

you should get some decent settings at that res with the 5770, but that cpu will be the limiting factor there, you might get a little bottlenecking if not a good bit

^^Your sig says nothing about what CPU you have, but based on your board you have Imma guess I7 920/930/or 950. Is it overclocked?
