5870 What would you do?

No GTX 480/470 posts. I read the threads and will consider them.

I have 2 ASUS 5870 and they can still be returned under the 30day return policy at my local store. I will probably keep one but I may keep or return both, I am up in the air. I am looking for logical suggestions, minus costs. I may just CF them and find something new for the i5?

Does anyone have thoughts or info on the new 5870 cards with 2gb coming? I was even thinking of two 5850's in CF and keep one 5870? Though I want to try new things I dont want to be sorry I did...

If I were you, I'd just keep the two 5870 in CF. Should keep you happy for a long time, at least until the GTX480 price comes down, or for ATI to release the next big thing, or wait the 5970 to be more available and cheaper.

Do whatever suits your needs. If you have a strict budget keep the two 5870 in CF until 480 prices fall like sniperchang said. You won't have any problems running games..

The price is not a real concern. One of my 5970's worked for 2 days and it was fast. I want that again...

RMA/Return it. You need to turn the fans above auto on those however, and it seems as if you have a pretty good budget to be going on these with, you may want to look into getting your 5970 on a water loop.

Two crossfired 5870's though will beat a 5970, as the 5970 is essentially two downclocked 5870's on a single pcb.

If your gpu's are dying this quick though...what sorta power supply you running them on?

My question was what is coming down the pipe in case I missed something. Money is not an object for a single card like 1 5970, I won't buy 5... I want to stay married.

I am strongly considering a GTX 480 but dont want to discuss it for obvious reasons. I like the performance reviews but i do not like the noise and heat.

To clear things up
1. First 5970 DOA, would never turn on, only the fan would run 100%
2. Second 5970 worked for 2 days. My 750HX will power my 5870's in CF. Both my current computer spec's are listed below.

i would like to change my vote. i would wait and see how the hd 5970 with 6 displayport and 4 gb ram does (as long as it is real and not an april fools day joke:)). if it does well, i would certainly get that over the rest (just my opinion).

If you have had that much trouble with the ATi's then you are one unlucky dude lol.

Or there is something faulty in the rest of your specs... I would say PSU like bomber but Corsiar are the man.

Since I can run 2 5870's without a problem I am not too concerned about the PSU that I have. I have never had a problem with any card but the 5970... It was so fast I want it again though. My 5870's do not have issues, I am just considering options. I probably should not have mentioned the 5970 problems. I took it out of my posts.

What can I say except try for another 5970, hopefully you won't be so unlucky. Otherwise you'll just have to wait and see what the future brings.
