As part of my $5,000 gift certificate to Newegg, I want to get a decent gaming laptop. Nothing too fancy, but something that will play games such as CSS, TF2, DoDS, CoD2, etc. Please read over the specs and the price, don't just vote for the one with best specs!! :)

Acer Aspire - $950:

16" LCD @ 1366x768
8-Cell Battery

512MB nVidia 9500M GS

i voted for the M70. its decently better then the Toshiba above it, and for not much more. nice res and 4 gb ram. should be very decent

The toshiba has the best graphics card I THINK. Isn't the 9600 just a better version of the 8600? If so, the 8700 should be better than the 9600, and I have the 8700 on my laptop, and would say it is great.

where did you get a 5k gift certificate from?!?!?!?!
edit:: i think you should get something more portable that you'll actually want to haul around

Yes, the 9500M GS is a tad better then the 8600M GT, and the 9600M GS is just a tad better then the 9500M GS. So yes, the 8700M GT is better.

What about this one?

It is about the same price as the m70, but it has an 8800m GTS 512 and a T8100 CPU (2.1GHz)
I saw that, but thats way too large. It's not really portable either, it's like carrying around a 20" LCD everywhere you go!

I guess you didn't see the thread about me, I won a $5K gift certificate for being the 1,000,000th reviewer. :)

Due to the screen size, processor speed and battery life (not to mention the decent GPU), I voted for the M70. :)

Thank you, someone who took other factors into consideration before saying what one is better. :)

I looked at the cheaper, 15" Asus' and those all had the 6-Cell, which from reviews got at most 2 hours, whereas the 8-Cell in the M70 gets at least 3 hours.
My Toshiba was $1,500 and has Dual 8600's and amazing speakers/sub.
I saw that one on Newegg, which was selling for $1,900. It looks like a nice laptop, but the 6-Cell battery on an SLI notebook must be horrible for battery life, what do you get with it?

For a notebook, that's a big difference.

Battery is a bit weak atm, but I am usually plugged in.

But I may buy a better battery, if needed.

Its great for games and playing music and stuff, like I said about the speakers, I'll see if I can make a video to show how good the speakers are.

Yea, I'd change my vote to the asus m70, the asus' card isn't that bad compared to the toshiba, and it has a bigger resolution and more ram.

The m70 is what I was looking at before as well, and was my first choice. I didn't want to say anything though as some people might of voted differently.
