6 screen problem

My friend has just shown me his hp pavilion dv6700 and it has put 6 screens on one and will not get to the home screen, I am presuming it has a video card problem and a operating system problem. I would just like to know ifmy hunch is correct. ny help would be much appreciated

uhmm this depends on how he set the screens up and also if his videocard can handle the load it has to take.

oh wait srry i misread. uhmm have you checked the resolution etc? otherwise its a hardware fault

He just ran it off an cd os and it still had the same problem so I told him to get a new graphics card

thats what i thought too, but i cant exaclty help if we dont know what he means by 6 screens.

I ment that is is showing the same background with the same mouse 6 times on one screen

well most probably, this is could be a GPU problem, something in the gpu could be damaged. id go and have a look at it, or ask the manufacturer themselves

That's what I thought I told him to get a new gpu

So if he moves the mouse, does it leave a trail behind it of static (frozen) pointers?
Or do all of the pointers move independantly, but follow the mouse movement?
