For Christmas I'm gonna get a gaming PC, but Santa Claus has only $600 to spend. Can you guys come up with a setup that will at least play BF2? also I'm gonna need a monitor. I will build it if i have to but if possible id like to just order a custom one. any ideas?

for 600.. that could be hard..
well.. lets have a look.

3000+ "Venice" $146

Foxconn NF4K8AC-RS-1.0 ATX AMD Motherboard $65

Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel $86.73

HITACHI Deskstar 7K250 160GB $81

POWMAX LP6100D 400W Power Supply $27,50

wich leaves you $46,27 for a good looking case.

this is only a suggestion ( and if i forgot something, please say so)

i would suggest you buy the parts during thnx giving as you its close to xmas and you can find some very nice deals.

yep i would definately go with the 6600 series i have got one in my laptop and i can play bf2. it would be nice to get a lcd but your budget suggests otherwise so i would not recommend an lcd go hard on your cpu and graphics card

well i figured an anthlon 64 2800+ would be good enough and then an eVGA NF3 ultra mobo . then a 256mb 6600 and 1 gig of corsair valuselect. 160 gig sata 150 HD. this comes out to $468.50 on newegg. this means i have about $130 for a monitor, case, and windows. i dont think i can fit all 3 into the budget

so after downgrading to 512 mb of ram and 80 gig HD, the total is $396, leaving about $200 for monitor, case, and windows. leave windows out of the budget for now, because i might be able to find a copy somewhere.
