hey guys, my uncle is thinking about buying a laptop. He needs it not for gaming, but mostly for the basic stuff, MS word, emails, etc. He wants atleast 512mb of ram. He doesn't want anything bigger than a 15" display, and it has to be pretty light. He also wants it to be a brand name laptop, dell, toshiba etc. His budget is in the 600 to 700 dollar range. thanks

Acer, Toshiba, HP/Compaq... even IBM/Levono has a model in that ballpark. Anything would be suitable for those tasks.

Dell also has really cheap laptops now...I'm sure you could find one to suit your needs in the $500 range.

check your local paper for weekly deals, for what he wants you ought to be able to find something that's on sale, and he can look at it in person

You could always find a laptop you like then look on E-bay, you're bound to find majorly discounted prices on there.
