Hey humm im trying to figure out something... kinda short on cash but i need a new CPU so i found a Intel Pentium 4 661 3.6Ghz Cedar Mill 0.65nm core would i be ok with that stock and getting less bottlenecking from my 7900GT....?

or i should try and maybe not get what i want but sell my 2 mobo's which are DFI Lanparty 915P-T12, Asus P5WD2 Premium and my 1GB of OCZ Value Ram DDR-400 and going into the Conroe's..?

it wont be cheap but i'll buy the cheapest conrow which is the 6300 @ 1.83Ghz 2MB L2 Cache... this would cost me like 300 to 500$ Can more than if i only bought a 661 3.6Ghz with 0.65nm core.... humm

what you guys think ... ?

thx r0k0

EDIT : for 272$ shipped to my door for a 661

yeah plus motheboard and then 2gb of ddr2-800 ram...

Well, if you want to buy a $200 E6300, use the extra $72 you were going to spend on the CPU, on this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813135023

It's Micro ATX so you may have to buy a new case, but then atleast, all you are spending is $270 ish dollars for a E6300 and Motherboard. It supports DDR and DDR2 so you could upgrade your RAM to DDR2 later (if you want to), or upgrade the motherboard itself... or get a new graphics card later on (has support for AGP and PCI-Ex 16).

But it's up to you... All I'm trying to do is leave your system in a way which will allow you to upgrade in the future, without having to buy a whole new system ;)
